X Paid Fine to a Wrong Bank
Elon Musk's social media platform X has mistakenly paid a fine to the wrong bank, according to Brazil's Supreme Court. The error occurred while attempting to settle an outstanding fine, resulting in the continued suspension of the platform's operations in the country, as reported by Reuters.
X's legal team claims that the company has correctly paid the fine, which is critical for the platform’s resumption in Brazil.
X was banned in Brazil at the end of August, a major market for the platform, due to its failure to moderate hateful content and appoint a legal representative in the country.
Last Friday, X submitted a new request to reactivate its services, claiming that all outstanding fines had been settled. However, the court has revealed that the payment was made to the wrong bank, preventing the platform from resuming operations at this time.
